Due to mechanical malfunction affecting our local groundwater wells, customers in our Kukio service area are under a mandatory water conservation advisory.
Although we have experienced intermittent rain showers recently, flow levels in the Honokohau stream remain consistently short of the State of Hawaii Commission of Water Resource Management’s Interim In-stream Flow Standards. As such, we must remain in Tier 3 conservation status, or 60% reduction of normal, non-potable water use and irrigation. More prolonged and frequent rainfall will be needed before we are able to relax current conservation requirements.
